Above is the edited version of my game. I corrected the following bugs: 1. Player now starts the game by pressing the spacebar; before, players did not have enough time to read instructions. 2, The sprite has changed location on several backgrounds. Before, he was covering up some of the information such as the slope formula.
I like your creative use to teach math. Skip is cute.
ReplyDeleteI would change the volume of the music. I realize that is probably just me, but a loud blast of a repetitive sound annoys me and I often turn off the background music in a game. Ironically enough, I leave the sounds of Farmville2 playing as it is gentle farm sounds and reminds me of a place I love.
Good use of graphics! Skip is really cute and I like the snowboarder dude that does flips if you get a right answer! I think the game does a nice job of engaging students in the content. One way this game could easily improved is to apply the principle of “Just in Time” and “On Demand”. Instead of providing feedback in the form of "try again" provide a clue or reminder on how to solve the problem.
ReplyDeleteIf you had more time and Scrtaching skills it would be nice to see the slope adjust so that the player could get a nice visual of the steepness of slopes. This would help some students learn the concepts easier.
I'm impressed with your work so far!
I like that your game is quick, fun and has good graphics. I suggest that you make your maps come out randomly. You would have to assign them a number, make the game pick a number behind the scenes and then put forth a random-ish map rather than in sequence. I think that would help extend the replay value of your game.
ReplyDeleteI really like Skip. You did a great job making him celebrate when the player answers correctly. You also fixed the problems from the first draft. I like that I get to choose to start the game by clicking spacebar.
ReplyDeleteWhen the player answers wrong, you might want to give a clue on how to solve the problem.
I got an error every time that I tried to view your project - did u maybe delete this draft?
